Feelings I need to get rid of and feelings I need to remember
I was feeling glum when we did List Comics at @janeporter's weekly comics class
List comics are my favourite thing in comics class – if you don’t know what it is, check out
’s wonderful blog about List Comics at the ReposiTory … and here’s my comics classmate quite wonderfully jumping the gun before we’d even had the List Comics session. The list theme was inspired by this Summer Pierre workshop.(It’s also the one week when Jane encourages us to go lowfi, so no Procreate for me!)
But I’d been having a week of sads and instead of following the prompt to list things I love, I decided to make a list of …
Feelings I Need to Get Rid Of
Yeah, sad, right? Well I was sad and it was hard to shake it even though comic class was a tonic.
Jane suggested a second go at List Comics, and this time, she said try going for a theme opposite to our first attempt.
So I did …
Things I Love About School Visits
In case you don’t know what a school visit is, it’s the bread and butter of hard working children’s authors, visiting schools, giving workshops and talks that enthuse children about books. The first week of March is the busiest time for children’s authors in the UK because it’s World Book Week. I do love school visits, and I do love children. So despite my earlier negativity I found myself exploding with good things.
And dear reader, guess what? I felt a lot better.
All those lovely moments in schools chased the nasties away.
Also, I think going low fi helped.

Matt Groening’s The Nine Types of Boyfriend
Tor Freeman’s A Short List of Animals That Have Bitten My Family Recently

What Lucia Leyfield Loves
Gemma Correll does A LOT of list comics
These are both so great! Something about making comics really helps “organise” emotions and make them manageable somehow.
I especially love the over enthusiastic teacher, barging in with questions! 🤣
I loved your description of the Wall of Visiting Orfur as a Shrine to Me. It IS! It's also quite bizarre to be introduced to the Shrine by one of its little Handmaids. Being wildly enthusiastic about a shrine to yourself makes me feel like I'm joining in the worship. Hope the Sad is lifting xxx
